Bar 21: The best cheeseburger in Bacolod!

The Bacolod food hunters are proud to bring you their report on:  THE BEST CHEESEBURGER IN BACOLOD!

The best cheeseburger in Bacolod can be found in a restaurant familiar to most Bacolenos.  In fact, most people do not even order cheeseburgers from this restaurant at all, preferring instead to buy from the local Jollibee or Mcdonalds outlets.

My friends and readers, you do not know what you are missing out on.  This cheeseburger will truly blow you away.  This scrumptious cheeseburger can be found in Bar21.  Yes, THE Bar21.

Bar21 is located along busy Lacson street. By daytime it is almost unnoticeable.  By night time, the lights in the restaurant go on and the “21” number sign lights up enticing diners to go inside.

Bar21 has recently been renovated and the whole place looks nice and cozy.  Soft lighting and nice comfortable furniture really add to the charm and the ambiance of Bar21.

Bar21 also has some interesting decor such as this huge trophy fish.

On the menu that night was roast Angus Beef. It looked really good and almost distracted the Bacolod Food hunters from their mission!

The batchoy looks very delicious!  Topped with chicharon and sliced onions, it was sending out a delicious aroma!

Finally the main event.  The cheeseburger arrives.

IT IS HUGE! A Massive beef patty nesting on an equally massive bun along with fresh, crisp tomatoes and lettuce drizzled liberally with cheese sauce.  Oh wow!  It also had a generous helping of chips.  This cheeseburger truly is the best in Bacolod!  For years, Bob’s restaurant had held the honor of having the best cheeseburger.  Not anymore.

One member of the Bacolod food hunters becomes the guinea pig and shows just how filling the cheeseburger is.  We ask Smile, the thinnest member to demonstrate.

Look at how big the burger is!  Smile has to cut it with a knife and fork!

Even though the cheeseburger is cut in half, it is still too big for Smile who bravely munches on half a burger.

Finally Smile has almost finished half a burger and asks:  “Do I really have to eat the second half too?”

The evidence that Smile is full, his belly is bulging at the seams!  Attaboy!  He has vanquished the monster burger!

So whenever you are in Bacolod and have a craving for a cheeseburger, pass up on the McDonalds and Jollibee fast food crap and go to Bar21!

    You go smile!!!

That looked liked a really sweet tastin’ burger! A MONSTER BURGER!!!

The batchoy deserves a seperate post of its own. For it is indeed famous in its own right and only serves as a supporting cast in this little story.

  5. hi! i think that PENDY’S has the best burgers and pad thai in bacolod, or the whole philippines! BAR21 has the best batchoy! when i saw the pic of the cheeseburger of bar21, it reminded me so much of the wimpy burger of CELYN’S. do you guys remember it? yum yum!

keep on telling us about the food! 😀

In the past I would agree that Bar 21 had the best cheeseburger. Today I think the best cheeseburger can be had at Grill Guru, up by LaSalle. In fact I had a cheeseburger at bar 21 this week and commented to my wife that it wasn’t nearly as good as Grill Guru’s. The burgers at Grill Guru are done over a charcoal fire — a combination that’s pretty hard to beat using an electric griddle.

  6. ah yesss…. wimpys should not be missed, martin! you can still try it at KUPPA. i think every sji student has his/her wimpys experience. LOL!

  7. hi. linked you up… and i hope it’s ok if i borrowed a pic from your entry. attributions included. ty. (let me know if it’s not.)

i know of bar21.. good food, alright.. yes, the batchoy is good there and is almost akin to the batchoy that you can get in the la paz market in iloilo – how authentic can you get, haha! but i will surely include the burger in 21 as well as the one in pendy’s (im familiar with pendys as well) in my continuing quest for THE BEST BURGERS in this country. good post, very well written! thanks and keep on blogging boys and girls, haha!

  10. how bout bob’s big boy?bob’s burger really bring back childhood memories. i even remember popeye!haha..also pepe’s.they’ve got good burgers too.i still prefer eating burgers at restaurants in bacolod than goin to fastfoods.anyway, prices are the same.and sometimes even cheaper than fastfood

  11. The biggest burger I have seen in town is the bigfoot burger at Imbiss. It has 2 burger patties not 1, lettuce onion tomato & cheese, served with a huge order of french fries and coleslaw. It was under 150 peso if i remember correctly. Good for 2.

  12. Bar 21 is the absolute WORST place I’ve eaten at since moving to Bacolod City, 18 months ago. My wife, son, and myself, went there for lunch several months ago. As I entered the restaurant I noticed a lady eating a big platter of shrimp that looked very good. Neither my wife nor myself could find a shrimp plate on the menu so we inquired with the waitress if shrimp was available. “Oh, yes” she said — so I ordered it. Out came a plate the size of a SAUCER with ONE f’ing shrimp on it covered with some kind of cheese sauce for which I was charged the equivalent of $4.10 US!!!! My wife questioned the waitress about this outrage but all she did was get the manager. The manager’s attitude was BFD. YOU ordered it YOU pay for it. In my estimation Bar 21 is nothing but an overpriced thieving dump!! This joint and Imay’s are two places I’d never set foot in again — and we eat at least one meal out every DAY.

  16. The food is okay but i would NEVER come back there when i saw a mouse running here and there. What a big turn-off and it’s sooooo DISGUSTING!

  17. can you send us your menu for a small lunch gathering? do you have a small function room for 30pax? thanks..

  18. Hello Voracious….

I think the Food Hunters attitude is: if you can’t say something good…don’t say anything at all. I don’t know any of these guys and gals personally so I don’t have an axe to grind one way or the other. I have, however, followed their blog for about 5-years. Occasion they’ve written some pretty critical reviews. For the most part though they review a restaurant if the food, service, price, etc. is above average. Those that aren’t they don’t review. I have never been disappointed visiting a restaurant that got a favorable review. It’s only when my wife and I strike out on our own that we usually say, “we won’t be going back there again….” JMHO

    Best regards
    Jim
