In a land far, far away… a special band of friends have consecrated their lives to seek out and find the gastronomic feasts of the City of Bacolod.

They will scour every nook and cranny, every corner, every street, from the slums to Lacson St, Araneta Avenue, Sum-ag to Bata…

searching and never resting… no retreat, no surrender, no diet… to find that one dish, that restaurant.

This is a Crusade for the Holy Grail of Food… this is a Quest for the Promised Restaurant… this is a Journey… this is the Hunt. And we are the Hunters.

There is no food that we will not taste (except crustaceans because I’m allergic).

There is no sanitary condition we will not face! (Bring it!)

There is no price we will not pay! (except when we can’t afford it!)

The HUNT begins.

Ready! Set-to! Go!

I remember wonderful feasts we’ve had in Bacolod in the ’90s, those served in homes and in restaurants. One suggestion: please use a better camera for your food pictures to make us salivate even more. I wish you only the best.

If I had funds I would buy a better camera :-D

Sorry, I hope I didn’t offend your sensibilities. I didn’t mean to be mean. Btw, does Bacolod still have that pier place where you can have the catch of the day cooked for you at a restaurant nearby at around midnight?

Humo is without a doubt the worst restaurant in Bacolod City. Eating at Humo will tell you everything you need to know about the place, the pirated menu, stupid cook, power tripping waiters and to top that off the food is just awful, to stress that out the food is just devoid of any culinary understanding. This is my experience of the place.

Me and my family went out for dinner one night and after cruising around we decided to eat at Pepe’s but when we arrived there it was full as usual so i decided to try out humo aka ‘the other place’. Until this day I regret eating there. When we first went in the waiter was chatting with this guy at the counter and he did not even bother to seat us, so we picked a table by ourselves and we patiently waited for the menu. after about 20 minutes of being totally invisible to the restaurant’s staff, i decided to ask for some service. To my shock they decided to take my order right there by the counter, and instead of being given a menu they just told me to choose my order from the nearly faded menu on their cruddy blackboard wherein they only had about six different dishes, i picked three they told me that none of what i had picked out was unavailable, so i just ordered the three other dishes that i totally did not want. wtf?! when the food finally arrived the utensils they gave us still had bits of dried stains stuck to them. so did these things even get soaped when it went through the dish washer? that is totally disgusting. of course we requested for new ones but obviously they gave us the same ones, my wife recognized her fork because it had a slight bend on the rightmost spike. The food is simply atrocious. The recipe for their salpicao is sad attempt at fusion and poorly executed by their chef(most probably paid a minimum wage). the fish dish we ordered just did not smell right, you all know what that means, not very fresh seafood. When i asked for the check the waiter happily obliged, he came over to our table and literally threw the bill in the middle and arrogantly walked away. At that point I was about to go furious but luckily my wife sensed waht it was coming to and she just touched me by the lap and we left. This restaurant has committed murder and the victim’s name is culinary principles.

I urge everyone to speak out against these half baked services we got from some restaurants in the city. It is a matter of principle for the advancement of the culinary scene in our country, we must demand more from them if we ever want to achieve recognition as a culinary destination in the world.

    Peace!

    One love food hunters!

Humo?? at the second floor of sorrento plaza? Wow.. It’s a shame to hear that you had such a bad experience there.. Ugh.. Your description of the barely washed utensils is really gross. It’s such a turn off. On the bright side, you’d be glad to hear that no one has recommended dining at that resto to us. Hehehe.
